Plans for an exciting £4 million leisure scheme at the Concourse Shopping Centre could be decided this week.

West Lancashire Borough Council’s planning committee is meeting on Thursday evening (December 18), where the details of the proposed seven-screen cinema and cafes will be up for discussion.

Throughout the planning process, London & Cambridge Properties has sought to engage the local community in the development of this scheme and seek their feedback on the proposals for the centre.

Following the consultation events held at the Concourse in October, a leaflet mailing kept local people up to date on the progression of the plans and asked them to show their support for the scheme. Almost 600 people responded, with 95% expressing their support.

Jo Salmon, retail portfolio manager for London & Cambridge Properties, said: “We are very pleased that our application for a much-needed leisure scheme in Skelmersdale will be heard by councillors this week. We’re very keen to deliver this vital £4 million investment in the Concourse and it’s clear that local people want to see this scheme get the go ahead.”

There is board level approval of the scheme and the funding is in place ready for the green light from West Lancashire Borough Council.

Concourse Shopping Centre is owned by Skelmersdale Limited Partnership, a joint venture between LCP and Threadneedle Investments.
