An amateur racing driver has taken the hotseat at the Black Country headquarters of LCP.

Richard Honick joins London & Cambridge Properties (LCP) as legal counsel, where the company has set up a legal department at its Black Country headquarters for the first time.  Richard joins the existing legal team who are based at the company’s Millbank Tower offices in London.

He will support LCP’s asset managers, providing legal and strategic advice on their property schemes, liaise with external lawyers, and work alongside the group’s London-based legal team.

Richard, who joins LCP from Higgs and Sons, has more than 15 years’ commercial property law experience and has worked at Wragges and in-house at Birmingham City Council, where he advised the city on the asset management and wider property law matters to guide the Pallasades Shopping Centre transformation into Grand Central.

His asset management specialisms are well tailored to the requirements of the surveyors at LCP who he now advises.

A competitive Formula Vee racer in his day, Richard is hoping to return to the sport after a few years’ absence following the birth of his two children,

Richard said he was also keen to return to in-house asset management legal work from his private practice roots.

“I enjoy being an integral part of the business and making an immediate impact in the organisation in which you are based,” he said.

“LCP is undergoing an ambitious expansion programme, not least with its current focus on local convenience parades in the retail sector, which makes it an exciting time to join the company.”

Welcoming him to the organisation, Nicholas Burgess, managing director of LCP, said: “We’ve not had an in-house legal services department at our Midlands headquarters before but with our ambitious growth programme means it makes sense to bring the expertise within the company.

“Richard will work alongside the legal team in London, as well as our asset managers, providing first-class advice and strategic assistance.”
