JAYBEE LEISURE CHOOSES THE CONCOURSE SHOPPING CENTRE FOR NEWEST OUTLET02/09/2019
A well-established family business is to open a new amusement arcade, complete with café selling homemade goodies and locally roasted coffee, in the Concourse Shopping Centre, Skelmersdale.
Fit out has already begun for Jaybee Leisure Leigh Ltd’s outlet in the North West, which opens as Leisuretime in Skelmersdale, creating up to 10 full- and part-time jobs when it opens next month (October).
The licensed amusement and bingo arcade is opening in unit 15a, the former Heron Foods store, and will cater for over 21s only, while the coffee shop will be accessible for all the community and will serve Tank coffee, which is roasted in the north west, breakfast, lunch and afternoon teas with locally sourced, freshly baked cakes, homemade sandwiches, snacks and drinks.
Joe Mulhearn, company director, who founded the business in 1980 with his wife Lana, and whose son Joe is also now on the board, said he was looking forward to bringing the brand to Skelmersdale, adding to its existing outlets in Leigh, Atherton, Rochdale and Liverpool.
“We’re a family business, run with the community in mind. We’re from the North West and like to keep our business within the region so we can continue with a community feel at all times,” he said.
“As a family, we visit our sites daily to ensure we maintain excellent customer service and standards and this will continue when we open our fifth branch in the Concourse Shopping Centre. The fit out is coming along really well and we’re really looking forward to opening our doors to the local community.”
Gary Mitchell, Concourse Shopping Centre manager, said: “It’s wonderful that a regional, family business wants to invest in Skelmersdale, bringing a new leisure facility to the town and providing local people with job opportunities. We’ve been working closely with Leisuretime as it prepares to open its doors.”
The news about the new investment comes just a couple of weeks after Domino’s Pizza opened in the atrium of the Concourse Shopping Centre.
When it opens, Leisuretime will be open Monday-Saturday 8.30am-9pm, Sunday 10am-5pm. The coffee shop will open Monday-Saturday 8.30am-6pm and Sunday 10am-4pm. When the centre closes, access will continue via the side entrance adjacent to the bus station.
Leisuretime is looking to employ staff. Anyone interested in a position should email their CV to: email@example.com
