Witches, ghouls and wizards galore turned out to the Concourse Shopping Centre, Skelmersdale, for a free family Halloween event.

The spooky storytime involved Wicked Witch, Sneaky Pete the Pirate, Fey the Forest Fairy and Maleficent telling stories around the shopping centre, with each character telling their side of a story.

Families got involved by taking part in a number of activities, including dancing and collecting a variety of items such as treasure jewels and flowers, spiders from slime and eyeballs, which were placed into the witches cauldron.

Max Spielmann also took free photographs for participating families, which can be redeemed by Saturday, November 9, while facepainters made sure families looked the part for the spooky event.

Hays Travel also took part, with a Halloween selfie frame, tombola, cake sale, pick the brains and guess the sweets in the jar, all in aid of Derian House children’s hospice.

Winner of the best spooky dressed competition was nine-year-old Zaltan Mate, who was Pennywise from the film IT. He wins £30 shopping centre vouchers to spend in the Concourse.

Jennifer Burnett, marketing manager at The Concourse Shopping Centre, said: “The feedback we had was really positive, with families having a great time, taking part in the activities. Everyone looked amazing, with some great faces and outfits. Thanks to everyone who took the time to come down and enjoy the Halloween festivities.”
