A West Midlands firm that distributes fire alarms and automatic fire suppression systems has moved to new premises in the Black Country in preparation for launching its own gas detection line.

Green Fire Engineering Ltd, which also distributes fire-fighting equipment both in the UK and globally, launched in July last year and has enjoyed such rapid success that it has taken on a four-year lease on Building 70, Bay 3 at Pensnett Estate, Kingswinford.

The 4,066 sq ft premises will be used in the first few months as a warehouse for its products.

However, Mike Zarn, Green Fire Engineering Ltd’s sales manager, said it then plans to dedicate part of the space to a production line for the manufacture of its own gas detection systems.

It marks a new chapter for the business, which has until now operated from an office in Edgbaston, Birmingham, and had to pay its suppliers to stock goods for them.

“We were keen to stay in the West Midlands and the unit at the Pensnett Estate offered exactly what we needed in terms of good quality warehousing and office space, with the added benefits of estate security and a pleasant, well maintained working environment,” said Mike.

“Our business has grown quickly in just a few months and we felt it was the right time to move so we can expand further.”

When the production line is ready to begin, Green Fire Engineering Ltd will take on about five members of staff, added Mike.

Paula James, LCP sales negotiator, said: “We’re pleased to support another local company that needs to expand and wants to use its expertise to create new opportunities for local employment. The Pensnett Estate is home to dozens of innovators that are helping to maintain the Black Country’s position as a great place to do business.”
