GAME Retail has doubled the size of its store in the Wulfrun Shopping Centre, Wolverhampton.

As part of Game Digital plc, the leading specialist retailer of video games which recently floated on the London Stock Exchange, GAME Retail Ltd had been using the adjoining unit to its existing store for a trial period.

The trial proved to be so successful that GAME has decided to make it a longer-term arrangement by converting Unit 32, adding a further 1,677 sq ft retail space, and taking out a three-year lease. The additional space will be open to the public in August 2014.

Dave Howard, stores director at GAME Retail, said: “We have a great gaming community base in Wolverhampton. We're very keen to make sure we have the right representation in the right place in the best locations across the country, and when the adjoining unit became available we decided that the time was right to trial additional retail space. That trial was a resounding success and so we have worked with LCP to make it a longer-term arrangement.”

Rick Meek, store manager said: "It's been great to see to see the store continuing to grow. We have a really loyal customer base, a strong team with old and new faces and we have all worked really hard to set the standard for the Game Wolves experience. Our upcoming store expansion can help us continue to grow and help take our community experience to the next level."

Andrew Barrett, asset manager at LCP, said: “We’re pleased to have worked closely with GAME Retail over the past few weeks to make the larger store a more permanent fixture in the Wulfrun Centre.”

In June, the Wulfrun Centre - one of the city’s main retail centres, comprising 200,000 sq ft of stores - welcomed the popular jewellery specialist Pandora. Other occupiers include Poundland, Specsavers, Argos, Peacocks and The Fragrance Shop.
