The Wellington Centre in Aldershot is celebrating after receiving a glowing "mystery shopper" report for cleanliness and staff friendliness.

The shopping centre, which is owned and managed by national commercial property and investment group LCP, launched an improvement programme earlier this year, focusing on cleaning and security services.

And a mystery shopping visit by national facilities management group Westgrove Management, which rates retail centres, scored The Wellington 83% for its cleanliness in the mall and toilets, and for friendliness of centre staff.

The mystery shopping survey visited 36 shopping centres in the region and The Wellington Centre score was higher than the 81.67% average.

Tony Wilkes, Centre Manager, said: “Since March, we’ve been working hard to improve our customer services and we are extremely proud of the score we achieved in the mystery shopper report.

“It demonstrates the great effort that all staff have been making to ensure shoppers’ experience at the centre is as good as it should be. We’re particularly pleased to have received 100% for cleanliness of the mall and 88% about the friendliness of staff.

“We’ll be using these scores to see how we can continue to improve the centre for our shoppers as we are aiming for 100% in every category.”

The Wellington Centre is home to more than 50 retailers, including high street favourites Argos, Boots, WH Smith, Wilkos, Sports Direct, New Look, Trespass and JD Sports. There is also an on-site car park with more than 400 spaces.
