DEVON TOOLS COMPANY DOUBLES SIZE

A Devon-based, family-run business has expanded its operation after buying new industrial premises at Blackdown Park, near Cullompton.

KDP Tools, the sole importer of Toolzone brand products in the UK, moved eight miles from Ormidale Square to Blackdown Park in Willand, after purchasing 19,872 sq ft of premium industrial space - doubling its space.

The tools company has moved into two blocks, which comprise five units that are situated around a communal circulation yard.

Each of the steel portal frame units has a single pitched steel profile clad roof and benefit from allocated parking and secure loading areas.

Malcolm King, managing director of KDP Tools, said it looked for new, larger premises because it had grown too large for its old site, which had led to its leasing another unit elsewhere to store stock.

“By consolidating our stock onto one site means it is now much easier to operate,” he said.

“The units’ close proximity and excellent access to the M5, combined with the lack of quality units available to purchase in Mid Devon, led to Blackdown Park standing out as the obvious choice.

“We are extremely happy with the property due to its very good condition and value for money in contrast to new build opportunities.”

Mr King added: “We are delighted to have now secured new premises and the process was made easy thanks to speedy negotiations and working closely with LCP and its agents.”

Howard Roddis, asset manager for LCP, said: “We are very pleased to see that KDP Tools has now moved into its new premises at Blackdown Park and it is especially heartening to see that an established, local, family business was able to find suitable units on its doorstep.

“Blackdown Park gives businesses that want to expand the chance to buy new, high spec commercial premises in an area of Devon that lacks good quality industrial units.

“Thanks to the high specification of the remaining units on the park, we are anticipating a lot of interest in the remaining blocks.”

Richard Yendle, from Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), which acted on behalf of LCP, said the sale of the two blocks to KDP Tools added further evidence that Mid Devon was experiencing strong demand for good quality industrial space.

“Both Tiverton and Exeter currently have a lack of quality space available to purchase on a freehold or long leasehold basis,” he said. “Blackdown Park offers occupiers the chance to purchase new, high spec commercial premises on this basis.

“These are quality units that are ideal for industrial and distribution sectors and their proximity to the M5 means that we are expecting a great deal of interest from businesses looking for premium premises with excellent transport links.”

LCP is looking to sell a further 15 units in two blocks at Blackdown Park. The units, which range in size from 2,952 sq ft to 11,446 sq ft, are being marketed by JLL. To arrange a viewing, call Richard Yendle on 01392 423696.
