A global cable manufacturer has opened a new UK headquarters in Wirral as part of its worldwide expansion plans.

Helukabel, one of the world’s leading cable manufacturers, has agreed a three-year lease on Unit 6, Wyrnose Road, Old Hall.

The 4,682 sq ft facility will house Helukabel UK’s corporate, sales and warehousing, and distribution operations after the UK division was established by the German company in September 2013. Prior to Unit 6 opening in May 2014, products were shipped from its distribution hub in Germany where more than 33,000 line items are available from stock.

“The continuous growth over the past years, and the intention of further enhancing our services to the market, made the decision to establish local warehousing facilities an easy one,” said Adam Parry, managing director of Helukabel UK.

“With the opening of our new warehouse, we will be able to offer faster service times to industrial manufacturing applications, such as automotive, aviation pharmaceutical, wind, solar, bio mass, packaging and agriculture.”

Four jobs have been created at Helukabel UK but further positions are expected to arise as the company expands.

The warehouse is just one of a number on the estate that has been let to companies recently. Paul Thorne from Mason Owen and Jonty Goodchild from Bolton Birch acted as agents for LCP.

Paula James, sales negotiator at LCP, said: "This is a well-established industrial site and we are delighted to see a global name like Helukabel make it their UK headquarters. It is ideally situated, close to major trunk roads and motorways."

The Old Hall Industrial Estate is situated in Bromborough on the Wirral, Merseyside.  It is close to the A41, which links with junction 5 of the M53. The Birkenhead Tunnel is five miles to the north via the A41, providing a direct link to Liverpool city centre.
